Name: Bartek

Age:  23

Factory Role: Apprentice Shoemaker

Years at Goral: 3

What does a day in the life of an Apprentice Shoemaker look like?

Everyday is different for me! I move around depending on how busy each department is so I can learn every aspect of the shoemaking process. So far I’ve worked in the closing room, the prep room, the clicking room and finishing room (the clicking room was my favourite so far) and I can’t wait to start learning everything there is to know about the lasting room.

How did you get into shoemaking?

When I finished education I wanted to find a hands on career, it came down to woodwork or shoemaking and I was lucky enough to get the job here at Goral.

What are your favourite style of Gorals?

I always had a soft spot for the Goral Original so out of the current collection I’d have to go with The Mellor as it has that same minimal style to it.

What are your passions outside of work?

I love gaming, especially with friends. I also play the drums but I’ve yet to find a band to play with so I mostly practice at home and annoy the neighbours.

Tell us something about yourself that people wouldn’t expect?

I was almost in an advert for Walkers crisps when I was younger but got beat to the part in the final stages of the auditions.
