Behind the Scenes 10 - Leather waste and what we're doing about it

BEHIND THE SCENES 10
-
As we push to make GORAL a more sustainable business one issue we're working on is how to reduce the amount of leather waste we produce. Currently our leather scraps are donated to local hospitals to be incinerated to generate energy, whilst this does mean the scraps are being made use of, it's not the most efficient way of disposing of them.

This is why we're currently working on a new method to stitch these scraps together to make a new patchwork-style material to be used in production. this would create a unique material out of which 1-of-1 shoes could be made, this allows us to reduce waste and also provide a completely unique sustainable product to customers that are looking for a pair of shoes that can't be copied or replicated.
