Meet The Makers: Jakub, Quality Control and Packing

MEET THE MAKERS: JAKUB

QC & PACKING

5 YEARS AT GORAL & SON

In his past five years working for Goral & Son Jakub has taken on a number of different roles at the workshop, starting out as in the closing room before taking on the role of our sidewall stitch operative, and more recently working in quality control and packing whilst still operating the stitching machines from time to time. His current role mainly involves inspecting the shoes at each stage of the manufacturing process and packing the shoes once they’re ready giving them his final seal of approval.

Before working for Goral he worked as a machine operator in a food processing factory, deciding to make a move to find a job in something he was more passionate about, shoe making being something he’d been interested in learning as a profession for a long time. Finding out about the opening at Goral online he started working here in the summer of 2016. When we asked him what’s he enjoys about working here he said “It’s a very interesting job with interesting opportunities”

When Jakub isn’t working he’s out in nature, an avid cyclist and walker, who makes the most of his proximity to the peak district. He also enjoys going fishing with his friends on a weekend and is hoping for a nice warm summer so he can try and beat his record catch of a trout that was just shy of 2ft.
