Shooting in the iconic Round Building (David Mellor Design)

We recently had the pleasure of taking a trip to The Round Building, also known as the David Mellor Cutlery Factory, to do a photoshoot with our new Tonal Mellor Pack. The Round Building, located in Hathersage, Derbyshire, is the former factory and workshop of world-renowned designer David Mellor, who passed away in 2009. The building is now the headquarters of the David Mellor Design company, which is operated by David's son, Corin Mellor.

As a brand that admires and draws inspiration from David Mellor, we were thrilled to have the opportunity to shoot our shoes in such an iconic location. David Mellor was a pioneer in design and craftsmanship, and his influence can be seen in the clean lines and attention to detail of our own products. We were especially excited to be able to showcase our Tonal Mellor Pack, a new range of fresh, modern colourways for our best selling style.

The Round Building is a stunning location, with its circular design and modernist architecture making it a perfect backdrop for our shoot. We were lucky enough to have the talented photographer Sam Binstead on hand to capture the essence of the building and our shoes in a series of stunning images. The natural light that floods into the space through the skylights and windows created a beautiful setting for our shoes to shine.

We were also fortunate enough to have the opportunity to meet Corin Mellor and speak with him about his father's legacy and the continuation of the David Mellor Design company. It was inspiring to see the passion and dedication that he has for his father's work, and we were grateful for his generosity in allowing us to use the space for our shoot.

Additionally, we would like to extend our gratitude to our friends at clothing brands Private White VC and Peregrine for providing clothing for the shoot. Their timeless and stylish designs complemented our Tonal Mellor Pack perfectly, and their commitment to quality craftsmanship and sustainable materials aligns with our values here at GORAL. We are honoured to have collaborated with such esteemed brands and are grateful for their support.

Overall, our trip to The Round Building was a wonderful experience that allowed us to pay homage to one of our design heroes and showcase our own products in a stunning location. We would like to extend our thanks to Corin Mellor and the team at David Mellor Design for their hospitality and generosity, and we look forward to continuing to draw inspiration from the legacy of David Mellor in our own work.

The Tonal Mellor Pack, which features four new colourways of the classic Mellor silhouette. The Green, Black, Grey, and Cream calfskin leathers are complemented by matching soles and laces, giving these shoes a sleek and modern look that's perfect for any occasion.
