Blood Core Leather: A collaboration born from patina and passion

Blood Core leather, developed in collaboration with Rose Anvil and Seidel tannery, isn’t just another black hide. It’s a concept that fuses craftsmanship, chemistry and storytelling into a material that reveals its character the more you wear it.

The idea started with a love for patina, the natural transformation that happens as leather ages and records your experiences. Traditional T-core leathers have long been celebrated for their hidden colour beneath the surface, a black top coat that slowly reveals a lighter core over time. Blood Core takes that philosophy and pushes it further, with a vibrant red beneath a heavy black coat, which as the leather flexes, scratches and wears a red begins to emerge.

Achieving this effect wasn’t simple, the challenge was to make the core itself red all the way through, not just tinted at the surface. After several rounds of development samples, the tannery managed to create a leather that was black on top but red through its entire structure - even a deep gouge won’t anything other than a deep red. This means the patina isn’t just visual, it’s structural. Blood Core isn’t a finish that rubs off easily, it takes genuine wear, flexing, scratching, scuffing, to bring the red to life.
