GORAL Aspen horse leather care guide
Our Aspen horse leather is a premium, full-grain, vegetable-tanned material that develops a patina over time and with the right care your shoes will last a lifetime.
Daily wear & protection
Avoid prolonged water exposure, Aspen horse leather is naturally dense and fairly water-resistant, but full immersion or heavy rain can leave marks or affect the leather’s texture. Light rain or accidental splashes are fine, simply wipe off droplets with a soft cloth and allow the shoes to air dry at room temperature.
Avoid direct heat, never use radiators, hair dryers, or sunlight to dry your shoes, simply let them dry naturally to maintain suppleness and prevent cracking.
Cleaning
In order to clean the shoes, remove surface dirt using a soft brush or dry cloth.
Spot clean only any marks, gently rub with a slightly damp cloth, water should never soak the leather (avoid detergents or harsh cleaners).
Condition sparingly as Aspen horse leather is naturally supple, so only apply a premium leather conditioner if the leather starts to feel dry. Test on a small area first.
Polishing and patina
Enhance the shine by using a soft cloth or horsehair brush to lightly buff your shoes and bring out the leather’s natural shine.
The unique grain and finish of Aspen horse leather will develop subtle colour shifts and character marks with wear, this is a feature, not a flaw, reflecting the individuality of your shoes.
Storage
Use cedar shoe trees to help maintain shape and absorb moisture after wear. Store in a cool, dry place and avoid humid areas and plastic bags, our premium shoe bags, that come with your shoes are ideal.
With attentive care, your Aspen horse leather shoes will not only look stunning but also continue to perform for years to come.
