At GORAL, we approach sneaker design the same way most brands approach boots. Every pair is made with longevity in mind, using traditional shoemaking techniques and premium materials that improve with wear. Our MUGGS, SLUGGS and SMUGS silhouettes have always embodied this philosophy, with the introduction of Vibram soles, they go one step further.

Why Vibram?

Since 1937, Vibram has set the global standard for high-performance rubber outsoles. Renowned for durability, resilience and long-term wear, Vibram soles are trusted in everything from alpine footwear to military boots. Partnering with Vibram was a natural progression for us, combining British craftsmanship with world-class sole technology.

The Vibram cupsole we use is made from dense Shore A rubber, selected for durability and longevity rather than aggressive tread. The result is a sole that offers reliable traction and excellent wear resistance, while maintaining the clean, understated sneaker profile that defines GORAL.

A cleaner sneaker, built to last

Vibram is often associated with heavy lug soles and overtly technical footwear. Our approach is deliberately different. The Vibram Christy cupsole allows us to retain a refined, sneaker-first aesthetic while significantly increasing durability underfoot.

Unlike most sneakers, these soles are sidewall stitched to the upper using our signature resoleable Blake stitch construction. This means the sole can be removed and replaced when worn, a rare feature in sneaker design, and central to our commitment to repairability and longevity.

Three silhouettes, one philosophy

SMUGS
Our best-selling style. Understated, versatile and designed for everyday wear, SMUGS on Vibram bring added durability to a silhouette built for daily rotation. Clean enough for smart-casual settings, robust enough for constant use.

SLUGGS
Designed for colder days and off-duty wear, SLUGGS take the comfort and construction of SMUGS and add extra substance. The Vibram sole gives them a more grounded feel while keeping the profile sleek and wearable.

MUGGS
Our winter-ready high-top. Originally inspired by Rose Anvil’s vintage shearling flight jacket, MUGGS combine warmth and comfort with serious build quality. On a Vibram sole, they become a true cold-weather sneaker, supportive, durable and built to go the distance.

Handmade in Sheffield

Every pair of MUGGS, SLUGGS and SMUGS is handmade in our Sheffield workshop by skilled craftspeople using time-honoured techniques. From the first cut of leather to the final polish, each shoe reflects our belief that footwear should be made with intention, not shortcuts.
