Lactae Hevea: Nature’s Answer to Comfort and Craft

Lactae Hevea soles are crafted from the pure milk of the Hevea tree, a natural rubber latex sustainably harvested through tapping (just like maple syrup). Each sole takes up to 3 weeks to make. Why so long, you ask? Because every step is done the slow, considered way:

STEP 1: Harvesting - Liquid latex is tapped from Hevea trees in a process that protects the health of the tree and the surrounding ecosystem.

STEP 2: Moulding - The latex is poured into aluminium sole moulds, where the slow vulcanisation process begins.

STEP 3: Air Drying - The moulded soles are placed in hot-air ovens and left to cure gently over 5-10 days. This natural drying phase gives the sole its bounce, strength, and signature feel.

STEP 4: Finishing - Each sole is demoulded, hand-trimmed, and carefully inspected. The result is a subtly irregular, organic finish, a quiet signature of something handmade.

Why It Feels So Good

Lactae Hevea soles have a soft, springy, sponge-like texture that flexes with your foot. Because the sole is porous and breathable, it won’t trap heat or moisture, making it ideal for all-day wear in any season.

We’ve used this sole on our ROMA - our most flexible style to date. The unlined suede upper moves naturally with your foot, while the Lactae Hevea sole cushions every step. That’s what sets the ROMA apart - and why you’ll feel the difference from the first wear. Shop now.
