To mark the launch, we caught up with Dom, founder of GORAL, to talk about the partnership, the craftsmanship behind the shoe, and what defines modern British design today.
Q&A with Dom Goral, Fourth-generation at GORAL
Q: What is your role at GORAL?
A: I oversee the brand vision and direction, working closely with both the factory floor and our customers. My role is to ensure that GORAL continues to honour its heritage of shoemaking, and that the legacy is passed onto the next generation of our family. That means everything from product development and partnerships to ensuring the highest quality standards in every pair we make.
Q: How would you describe GORAL’s aesthetic?
A: At GORAL, we believe in creating footwear that feels timeless rather than trend-driven. Our aesthetic is clean, versatile, and functional – shoes that can be worn from day to night, dressed up or down, and still look relevant years from now. The foundation is premium materials and meticulous resoleable construction.
Q: Why is it important to you to manufacture your shoes in the UK?
A: Manufacturing in the UK is at the heart of who we are – we are shoemakers in blood, crafting shoes since 1936. Continuing that legacy means protecting skills that have been passed down through generations. It also gives us full visibility over the process, ensuring that every shoe leaving the factory meets our standards. For us, “Made in England” is more than just a stamp – it’s a commitment to craftsmanship, quality, and responsibility.
Q: Why were you excited to partner with DAKS on this collaboration?
A: DAKS is a name synonymous with British heritage and refined style, so the opportunity to collaborate felt like a natural step for us. Their history in tailoring and our expertise in shoemaking complement each other, and together we’ve been able to create something that embodies the best of British design. It’s exciting to see two brands with such strong heritage come together to offer customers something fresh yet familiar.
Q: Was it important for you to partner with another British brand?
A: Yes, very much so. There’s a unique strength in British brands working together – not only do we share common values around heritage and craftsmanship, but we also have a responsibility to keep these traditions alive. Partnering with DAKS was about celebrating that shared ethos and showing how modern British brands can innovate while staying true to their origins.

A: DAKS has a deep heritage in tailoring and an association with effortless British elegance, while GORAL brings a focus on functionality, durability, and modern design.
