The Bloodline - Sean Mellor

For our Bloodline Black Friday campaign, we wanted to celebrate the people who make GORAL what it is, our community of loyal customers. Sean is a perfect example. He’s been following and wearing GORAL for around five years and now owns over 20 pairs! Sean has supported nearly every release, and we’re incredibly grateful for his dedication and enthusiasm.

How long have you been following or wearing GORAL?

I’ve been wearing GORAL for probably around five years. I bought my first pair before I even realised the brand had a social media presence. Since then, I’ve been following along and keeping up with what GORAL is doing online.

What’s your favourite GORAL style and why?

That’s simple, the HANLEY whole cut in Horween Shell Cordovan, it’s elegant, simple, and comfortable. It wears like a slipper and looks amazing. A very, very close second is the Mellor, which is fitting, as it’s my surname!

What makes GORAL different from other shoes you own?

They’re wholly made in the UK, handmade from premium UK leathers, and compared to other handmade shoes or sneakers, they’re competitively priced. The care and craftsmanship is clear in every pair.

What do you think of the Blood Core designs, and which were your favourites from the shoot?

I now have two pairs of Blood Core sneakers, one pair of SMUGS and one pair of SLUGGS, and I think the designs work really well with that leather. It’s a tough, strong leather, almost like boot leather, so it can take a bit of time to break in, but once it does, it’s super comfortable. Each pair develops differently over time depending on wear, weathering, and the unique patterns that emerge in the leather. That makes each pair truly one-of-a-kind. On the day of the shoot, my favourite was the Blood Core Mellor II. I really like low-top sneakers, but I think a whole-cut Blood Core sneaker would be fascinating to see as well.

If you could design your own GORAL sneaker, what would it look like?

I’d love a lace-to-toe, high-top sneaker, a little higher than the SMUGS, maybe a 10 or 12 eyelet design. I’d like to see it in Cordovan, that would look incredible.

Why Sean came to the shoot, and his favourite part of the day?

I believe every day you should do something that scares you a little. Being on the other side of the camera, when I’m normally the one behind it, was quite daunting! But everyone there, Katie, Ilyana, Ashley, and Dominik, made it fun and easy. It was an incredible experience, trying something new and stepping out of my comfort zone.

Sean perfectly embodies a customer who lives in his shoes and truly appreciates craftsmanship. His passion for shoes, style, and GORAL reflects exactly what the Bloodline campaign celebrates: the connection between our craft, the people who wear our shoes, and the community that brings GORAL to life.
